Turning the growth of women’s football into greater opportunity for girls and women

OneFootball commits 2.7% of Women’s World Cup 2027-related advertising revenues to advance gender equity through football
Women’s football is growing.
As the game looks towards the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 in Brazil, that growth will bring more attention, bigger audiences and increased commercial investment.
The opportunity is to make sure that growth reaches beyond the top of the game.
OneFootball has committed to donate 2.7% of its Women’s World Cup 2027-related advertising revenues to Common Goal, supporting work to advance gender equity through football and create more opportunities for girls and women across the game.
The pathways into football start long before the biggest stages.
They start on local pitches and in community organisations, with the people creating opportunities for girls and women to play, stay, coach and lead every day.
Yet access to those opportunities remains unequal. If the continued growth of women’s football is to contribute to a more equitable game, investment needs to reach the foundations that make participation and progression possible.
That is the idea behind raising the floor: as the ceiling of the women’s game continues to rise, strengthening the opportunities, environments and pathways available to girls and women from the ground up.
OneFootball’s 2.7% commitment will support Common Goal’s work to advance gender equity through football, including strengthening community organisations working directly with girls and women.
“Women’s football represents one of the most exciting opportunities in our industry, and we believe its commercial growth and social impact can and should go hand in hand.
By committing 2.7% of our Women’s World Cup 2027-related advertising revenues to Common Goal, we are building on the 1% principle and raising our own ambition.”
Maurits Schön, COO, OneFootball
For almost a decade, Common Goal has invited players, clubs, brands and other stakeholders across football to pledge a share of what they earn through the game towards creating positive change through it.
OneFootball’s commitment builds on that principle.
Beyond its financial contribution, OneFootball is also committed to using its global platform and reach in the build-up to Brazil 2027 to bring greater visibility to the communities working to build a more equitable future for football.
“Football only exists at scale because it exists in communities. Yet still today, in too many communities around the world, girls and women are pushed to the sidelines. As investment in the women’s game accelerates, we need to make sure we are raising the floor as well as the ceiling — investing not only at the top of the game, but in the organisations, coaches, and communities that are working on the ground every day to create safe spaces for girls to play, learn, and thrive through football, ” said Mary Connor, CEO, Common Goal
The 2.7% is OneFootball’s commitment. It doesn’t need to be everyone’s.
What matters is the principle behind it: that the commercial growth of women’s football and progress towards greater gender equity can reinforce one another.
As more investment flows into the game around Brazil 2027, there is an opportunity for everyone who benefits from that growth to consider the role they can play in helping it reach further.
Because raising the floor is a shared responsibility across football and wider society.
The question is: what can each of us contribute?
