Xaver Schlager was the first Austrian player to join Common Goal and he did so with a desire to give back in ‘purposeful way’.
The midfielder joined VfL Wolfsburg colleague Pernille Harder as part of the movement, meaning the club became the first in the Bundesliga to have both male and female representation.
Xaver joined in April 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic but had reached out to Common Goal prior to the outbreak of Coronavirus.
“I had been searching for an initiative like Common Goal to support for a long time, also before the Coronavirus pandemic.”
