WORLD FOOTBALL GIVING DAY – May 26

A collective global moment to give back through football

Communities have always been at the centre of everything we do.

Since our early days in 2002, community leaders have shaped our mission, our movement, and our belief in what football can become when it shows up for people.

It’s no coincidence that there is a heart at the centre of the Common Goal logo.

For years, we’ve worked to help football reconnect with that heart. To shine a light on the organisations and people using the game every day to create safer spaces, stronger communities, and life-changing opportunities for young people around the world.

Work that is too often unseen. Too often undervalued. Too often disconnected from the wider story of football.

But we’ve also seen what becomes possible when people come together around a shared belief: that football can contribute to a more equal, connected and hopeful world.

World Football Giving Day was born from that same idea.

From the same heart that sits at the centre of our logo. And from a simple belief that football should have a moment each year where the whole game comes together to show up for the communities using football to change lives.

Today, that moment is here.

One day after the United Nations’ official World Football Day, the global football community is coming together for something bigger than the game itself: the first-ever World Football Giving Day.

More than 200 organisations across 100+ countries are already rallying together alongside players, brands, clubs, media platforms and supporters from around the world.

Some will donate. Some will fundraise. Some will use their platforms. Some will mobilise their communities. Some will simply find their own way to give back.

That is the point.

This is the first step. A first edition. A first shared moment for football to turn some of its energy outward.

“World Football Giving Day is another step in Common Goal’s ambition to elevate football’s role in shaping a more equal and connected world,” said Elvira González-Vallés, Head of Brand at Common Goal. “Every day, organisations across the globe are using the game to create life-changing opportunities for young people, strengthen communities, and show up for others. They are the heart of this movement, and they deserve a moment each year where the football world comes together to recognise, celebrate, and support their work.”

World Football Giving Day is backed by lead partners adidas and Right to Dream, alongside a growing coalition of organisations and allies helping bring the moment to life. You can find them all here: Who is in | World Football Giving Day

As the countdown to the 2026 FIFA World Cup intensifies, World Football Giving Day positions football not only as the world’s most popular sport, but as one of the world’s most powerful platforms for collective good.

Different organisations. Different communities. Different ways of showing up.

One shared moment for football to give something back.

Today, football shows its heart.

We hope you will too.
