Juan Mata

Member Since 2017

Juan Mata, an adidas athlete, co-founded Common Goal in 2017 with a call for other professionals to join him in forming a Common Goal XI – since then the movement has grown year after year to now include well over 100 members.

Juan has achieved considerable success in his illustrious career and played for some of the world’s biggest clubs. He has won the World Cup and two European Championships on the international stage and the Champions League at the club level.

However, his achievements go beyond the pitch and he has proven himself to be one of the most socially conscious players in the world of football.

As part of his Common Goal membership, Juan visited OSCAR Foundation in India to experience first-hand how football is changing lives.

In 2019 Juan released his autobiography – Suddenly a Footballer: My Story – and used the book to flip the Common Goal script. He pledged 99% of the profits to the Common Goal movement.
