As our Senior Grants Manager, you will play a vital role in overseeing the grant management processes at Common Goal, ensuring alignment with our strategic objectives. This includes managing the funding cycle that distributes the 1% contributions from our members, as well as additional grant initiatives in collaboration with external partners. Your responsibilities will encompass preparing calls for proposals, evaluating applications, managing contracts, overseeing projects, and impact reporting.
In this cross-functional position, you will be an integral part of the Community team, collaborating closely with our Impact, Partnerships, and Finance & Admin teams. We seek a candidate who not only possesses strong communication and coordination skills but also shares our enthusiasm for enhancing grant management and program coordination processes. You will be tasked with establishing standards and guidelines while leveraging innovative technology solutions. A very high attention to detail and proven experience in grant management are crucial for the success of the position.
Preferably this position will be based in our HQ’s in Berlin but we are also open to employment within Spain and the UK.
Coordinate the distribution of funds to Common Goal Community member organisations via the 1% funding stream, including the necessary contracting and financial transfer processes in coordination with our partners Transnational Giving Network
Utilise intelligence gathered from our Community to define and manage topic specific call for proposal processes for Common Goal or in collaboration with partners within and beyond the football industry
Monitor funded organisations to ensure compliance with grant guidelines and oversee the financial administration and reporting processes, including defining reporting timelines and templates, reviewing financial reports received, and coordinating impact reporting
Manage communications with Common Goal Community members and partner organisations to ensure transparent information sharing
Activate technology and improve processes to increase the efficiency of our grant management
Coordinate and train external experts for the implementation of call for proposal processes, specifically for evaluation and reporting processes
5 years of experience in grant management – You have in depth experience in grants management or similar relevant areas in an international context
Strong project management – You are skilled in project management and coordination and have hands-on experience with technology solutions around grant management
Builder mindset – You bring systems lo life while enjoying the creative process and have a drive for process improvement and automation
Detail oriented but comfortable with ambiguity – You bring structure, a analytical mindset and an eye for detail without waiting for perfect clarity
Collaboration first – You build trust across functions, geographies and partners by showing strong communication skills and ethical standards
Accountability – You happily own your work, outcomes, and collective processes
Language skills – You are fluent in English (minimum C2 level). Fluency in additional languages, particularly Spanish, is an advantage.
