Move for the Planet

adidas and Common Goal to support projects that engage communities in sustainability and climate resilience through sport

Move For The Planet is expanding its impact and continuing last year’s work. As adidas and Common Goal partnered up for the second year in a row to support sustainability and climate-resilience projects through sport.

In 13 countries across five continents, adidas and Common Goal have selected projects around the globe with this one common mission.

In the first year, in 2023, our focus was on renewing a community’s sports pitches using recycled material and providing training on how to reduce plastic waste. In this second year, our focus is on education on sustainability and the enhancement of facilities to make them more resilient against extreme weather conditions.

adidas has pledged to donate the money raised through its Move For The Planet global activation to Common Goal to support even more projects around the globe.

The projects now span 15 countries. They have been selected to focus on some of the places most impacted by the effects of climate change from remote rainforest to urban city environments. Each project has a unique programme that is specific to their communities' needs and target groups (women & girls, socio-economically disadvantaged populations, racial and ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+).

In 2023, the aim was at three major impacts:

The continuation and growth of the impact in 2024 set new goals:

Projects will be implemented by local sports for good organisations, fully anchored in their communities and striving to drive positive impacts. Their field expertise enables them to design and launch tailored projects meeting the local challenges of the people and answering the relevant local environmental issues. All together, we seek to turn collective action into collective change.

We move together

Move For The Planet is a global activation that will harness the collective activity of sporting communities across the world.

adidas is encouraging people to turn activity into action as the pledge to donate €1 to Common Goal for every ten minutes of movement logged on the adidas Running App between 10th – 22nd May, adidas will donate €1 – up to a total of €1.5 million. The contributions will support projects around the globe that educate and engage communities on sustainability through sport.
