challenge that football for good organisations face all over the world. Every year, many of these organisations find themselves fighting for the financial sustainability of their programmes and adapting their agendas to the requirements of public and private donors. “Social enterprise has helped Kick4Life improve our financial sustainability as part of a balanced fundraising approach,” Steve notes, adding that, “We are delighted to be working with other foot- ball for good organisations around the world to share our learning and help them to increase the scale and sustainability of their impact.” The vision of this social enterprise project is to empower community organisations with the skills and expertise to set up and run their own social enterprises. The idea is to achieve greater financial sustainability, enabling increased effectiveness and scale for football for good activities. Through Social Enterprise Assist, Kick4Life is paving the way for a global template of train- ing and development resources that can be accessed remotely. In the case of Kick4Life, enterprises like the organisation’s restaurant and hotel are designed to provide structured training and employment opportunities for young people in the local community. “As well as generating income for our work, our enterprises also provide training and employment opportunities for young people coming through our programmes, providing the chance to achieve sustainable livelihoods,” Steve says. The Stadium of life aims to be a signature addi- tion to the Kick4Life organisation that will help to inspire change within the football industry. It is intended to become a cornerstone of the community and will help Kick4Life to further extend its impact across Lesotho. For Steve and Pete Fleming, and the whole team at Kick4Life, the Stadium of life has been 15 years in the making.
