LAST SUMMER, HERTHA BSC PLAYER AND COMMON GOAL MEMBER ALEXANDER ESSWEIN WENT ON A JOURNEY TO DISCOVER FOOTBALL FOR GOOD ON CAPE VERDE. GUIDED BY COMMON GOAL, HE FOUND IT AT DELTA CULTURA, AN ORGANISATION THAT WORKS TOWARDS SOME STRIKING GOALS: TO END POVERTY THROUGH EDUCATION AND GET YOUNG PEOPLE OFF THE STREETS AND ONTO THE PITCH. Welcomed with open arms and football-kicking feet, Alex cancelled all other plans and spent his entire trip at the centre and playing consecutive matches of football. Experiencing the meaning of football in the lives of the young players, Alex decided to use his Common Goal pledge this year to support the Tarrafal-based organ- isation.
