Top Tier Side to Wear Common Goal Shirt

Inter Club d'Escaldes support movement with limited edition shirt

While Common Goal may traditionally be known in football for its work beyond the white line, soon they will be crossing it directly into the action through the help of Andorran title contenders.

As Inter Club d'Escaldes’s men’s first team walk out to face UE Sant Julià in a title-deciding play-off game in the Andorran Primera Divisió on May 12, they will do so donning the Common Goal logo on their chests in a bid to spread awareness and raise funds for the movement.

The team from Escaldes-Engordany will wear the jerseys and then auction them off with the help of club partner Gol Solidari.

Gol Solidari was created by three current and former players, including Andorran football legend and Common Goal member Ildefons Lima Solà, alongside compatriot Juli Sánchez and ex Barcelona, Real Madrid and Argentina forward Javier Saviola.

The work of charitable organisation Gol Solidari sees its founders collect match-worn shirts from some of the game’s top players to then auction them off to help the most disadvantaged children in the principality.

The list of players to donate their club and international colours is a star-studded line-up, including the likes of Andrés Iniesta, Alexis Sánchez, James Rodríguez and Sergio Ramos to name but a few.

If the team manage to win this weekend in the preceding fixture, there is a chance they can lift the league title wearing this limited edition shirt.
